Consumer Protection Association (CPA)

TWS are proud members of the Consumer Protection Association (CPA), providing customers with peace of mind that they are dealing with recognised professionals that are committed to consistently delivering the very best standards of craftsmanship and excellent customer service.

The CPA was established in 1993 to help protect consumers from rogue tradesman. As an independent governing body, they work to regulate trade industries by working with contractors that deliver excellent customer service and best practise standards across the board.

All members are throughly vetted for professional competence and integrity before being approved for membership to ensure they meet the exacting standards of best practises within their trade. Only the best companies are eligible to join and their performance is continually assessed throughout their membership to ensure high standards are maintained.

Insurance Backed Guarantee

Consumers that choose a CPA accredited contractor also benefit from being given an Insurance Backed Guarantee from the point of sale, ensuring they are protected from the outset of the project for every eventuality should anything go wrong. They are also protected by the CPA's Deposit Protection Scheme. By giving these policies to consumers from the start, CPA accredited contractors are demonstrating their responsibility and commitment to you, the customer.

TrustMark

TrustMark is a Government backed scheme that has been put in place to help protect you, the customer. It allows you to identify reputable, reliable and trustworthy tradesman, to ensure peace of mind.

FENSA

In April 2002, the Government introduced new legislation stating that all window installations in the UK have to comply with strict Building Regulations and that failure to do so could result in the installer and homeowner being prosecuted. The legislation was introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of houses and buildings in England and Wales, with an aim of reducing fuel consumption and lessen carbon footprints.

The changes in the Building Regulations that relate to this legislation are covered in an approved document titled Part L. As a result of the legislation, new and replacement glazing is now:

• Controlled by Building Regulations and must receive approval from Local Authority Building Control before it can be installed. If approval is not obtained before replacement windows are installed you will be in breach of Building Control. This could result in you having to remove the windows and may make selling your house difficult.
• Required to meet higher energy efficiency standards. In effect, this means that all windows must have low emissive (low-E) glass fitted as standard and these must be tested to prove that they are capable of meeting the new standards.

British Standards Industry (BSI)

With its Global HQ in Hemel Hempstead, BSI Product Services provides product/service testing and certification to UK, European and International standards and is the UKAS accredited Notified Body for 17 of the New Approach EU Directives.

ELECSA

TWS is a certified member of the ELECSA scheme, demonstrating our competency to deliver safe fixed electrical installation in houses, gardens and shared amenities. There are a number of benefits to homeowners that instruct a Competent Person including not having to pay for a building control officer or submit a building notice. The scheme is managed by the Department of Communities and Local Government. On the 1 January 2005, the Government amended the Building Regulations legislation and introduced an Approved document titled Part P that in short states that all electrical installations must be safe. Building control bodies must inspect work affected by Part P, which takes time and costs money. TWS has been assessed under the ELECSA scheme and has passed as being sufficiently competent to self-certify that their work complies with all applicable requirements of the Building Regulations.
